Heinz Stock Goes Up
Release Date: August 2, 2007
Length: 00:00:30
Fun Fact: This commercial originally had a different ending - a fat kid stealing the ketchup.
More information:
This was the first Heinz commercial I had made in July 2007. I needed someone who could portray the role of a smart, fun shopper, and someone who loved ketchup. For this, I called on outstanding actor Becky Smith, whom I had worked with in the past numerous times.
The commercial was shot two days back-to-back. I edited footage from the first day later in the evening that same day. Most of that time went to creating the shot of numerous ketchup bottles in one of Becky's cabinets and her counter. On the second day of shooting, the ending had changed from a four-year-old overweight child stealing her ketchup to what it is now. |

Bringing Food to Life
Release Date: March 10, 2008
Length: 00:00:30
Fun Fact: This commercial was actually shot in a hotel.
More information:
For my second Heinz commercial, I had trouble thinking of an idea. I wanted to build on the visual effects I had shown in the first one, but put them side-to-side with a unique idea to create something truly spectacular.
Once I had the idea of a black and white world where Heinz Ketchup was the only thing that could "bring you to life", we set out to shoot. I had decided the best place would be in the lounge area of a local hotel where I had a pool pass at the time.
Considering that the entire commercial was full of visual effects shots, I believe this to be one of my greatest achievements in visual effects work to date.
