Nationalizing Banks

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

WASHINGTON – The government on Monday moved toward dramatically expanding its ownership stakes in the nation’s banks — with Citigroup, the struggling titan of the industry, apparently at the top of the list. Wall Street responded as it has with the rollout of almost every other plan to fix the financial crisis, taking a big drop and sending the Dow Jones industrials to its lowest level in a dozen years.

America nationalizing its banks?

“In God We Trust” is what is inscribed on every dollar bill here in America. But is that becoming more politically outdated? Will “In Buddha We Will Not Offend” replace it?

Jesus is the only way to an eternal life. Jesus, and only Jesus.

Bailout at $900B

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

WASHINGTON – The cost of President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan now exceeds $900 billion after the Senate added money for medical research and tax breaks for car purchases.

It could go higher Wednesday if a tax break for homebuyers is made more generous, even as centrists in both parties promise to clear away spending items that won’t jump-start the economy immediately.
